Thermal Testing and How it’s Done

Thermal testing is one of the core capabilities of Captec labs. It is an invaluable resource when testing new industrial computer. Captec is fortunate to have an on sight thermal chamber which allows systems to be tested, analysed and evaluated with a quick turnarounds.

It is important to ensure that any industrial PC which is planned to operate reliably in an extended temperature range is tested to ensure all of its key components operate within limits at both temperature extremes.

Temperature probes are used to monitor and record the temperature of each of these components during the test. The test conditions are established to best represent the true operating conditions of the system. The pass/fail of a system is determined not only by whether it functioned correctly during the test, but also by the thermal measurements taken. Analysis of the thermal data will help to indicate the system’s ability to operate for prolonged periods under the test conditions.
