Application Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Application Engineer to join our successful team in Fareham. You will be joining our rack integration team to provide technical services to our sales organisation in winning rack integration business. You will have a strong technical background and have knowledge of 19-inch rack systems.

This role will focus on specifying, designing and architecting rack solutions based on customer requirements. As the Applications Engineer, you will be involved in technical pre and post-sales support, proposal and quotation documentation and support, reference design and product realisation. You will also be involved in creating specifications in line with customer requirements and defining materials required for quotations, proposals or projects.

We are an ambitious company with an aggressive growth plan to meet our milestone for IPO floatation. This is an important role in order to support the companies’ sales focus on driving and growing our existing rack integration business. The role is ideal for a technical person who also enjoys the interaction with sales and customers as well as getting involved in commercial aspects of winning business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technically support sales and BDM personnel with progression of rack integration opportunities and engagement in pre-sales activities.
  • Actively involved in rack architecture and realisation.
  • Overseeing the creation and management of BOMs required for rack integration realisation.
  • Creating specifications in line with customer requirements and defining materials required for quotations, proposals or projects.
  • Participate in the development specifications of technical solutions for new business opportunities and products.
  • Working with multiple stakeholder teams within the business for the realisation of rack integration opportunities won.
Required Experience & Skillset:
  • Experience in specifying, configuring or supporting technical solutions.
  • Possess a good baseline understanding of 19-inch rack architectures, including awareness of mechanical structures, cable management, power distribution, environmental management and general IT & comms payloads.
  • At least one year in a technical role.
  • Competent communicator who can deliver a persuasive technical proposition to customers.

Business Development Manager

We’ve got a fantastic opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join us and develop targeted opportunities and win business in our expanding industrial computing and rack integration business units. If you’ve got a strong background in a field-based business development and account management role with proven experience in delivering a multimillion sales target, you’ll thrive here at Captec!

As the Business Development Manager reporting to our Fareham headquarters, you’ll have experience in selling 19-inch rack-related solutions and industrial computer products. This is a commercial role and does not require a depth of technical knowledge, but knowledge of the commercially available components and customer requirements would give you a strong advantage!

As this role can be based remotely from our Head Office, you’ll also need to be a self-starter that can manage time and priorities effectively. Business Development Manager – North

We’ve got a great opportunity for a specialist Business Development Manager to cover the North of the UK based around the Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield areas. As the Business Development Manager,  primarily you will develop targeted opportunities and win business in the expanding gaming solutions part of our business. If you’ve got a strong background in a field-based business development and account management role with experience selling computing solutions into the Gaming and Leisure sector, then we want to hear from you!

Ideally, you’ll have experience solution selling products into the computer technology market and in negotiating, winning and deploying major projects. As the Business Development Manager, you will engage in a balanced mix of opportunity nurturing and relationship building activities to identify and progress prospects to customers.

To succeed in the position, you’ll need strength of character, confidence and an eagerness to take on new challenges in a target-driven environment. Negotiation skills and a polished customer facing approach is key, as you’ll be communicating and presenting persuasive value propositions to a range of audiences. As this role focuses on new business and management of two major northern accounts, we would envisage you being based as far north as Manchester or Leeds and no further south than Nottingham. You will be field, home and office-based, reporting to our HQ in Hampshire once a month.

Finance Apprentice

Due to expansion, we are looking for an enthusiastic individual looking to kick-start their career within finance. As our Finance Apprentice, you will be working alongside a team of five in-house finance professionals who pride teamwork and value. You will learn and train in the AAT (Advanced Level Apprenticeship Accountancy Qualification), and we will pay the costs towards your professional exams and training. This is expected to take 18 months to complete and after the apprenticeship there is the potential for a full-time position with future learning opportunities. Within the apprenticeship, you will learn and put into practice what is required from credit control and purchase ledger.  You will ideally hold an A Level in Accounting or Level 2 AAT, but this is not essential – a drive to excel in Finance is all we ask for.

We are a busy manufacturing company specialising in solution-led computing platforms, from tablets to industrial computers to rack systems. We operate in a wide range of industries such as medical, transport and defence and are based in Segensworth, Fareham.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Help set up new supplier accounts within the accounting system.
  • Preparation and processing of supplier invoices into the accounting system ensuring that all supplier invoices are matched to purchase orders and goods received notes.
  • Resolving queries internally relating to incorrect purchase orders or externally with suppliers on incorrect invoices.
  • Preparation of payment runs to suppliers.
  • Prepare and send remittance advice to suppliers after transmitting payments.
  • Setting up customer accounts within the accounting system and conducting credit control due diligence.
  • Customer payment remittance processing.
  • Filing of sales invoices in appropriate folders each month.

Desired experience:

  • Enthusiasm and drive to exceed in a finance career.
  • C/4 or above in maths and English GCSE.

Mechanical Design Engineer

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will make a real contribution to the team by designing and developing products that meet specifications, look professionally engineered and that you can be justifiably proud of. This will include deciding on best processes, materials and structural integrity from the concept stage onwards. The nature of projects will vary greatly and involve electromechanical design, system integration and innovation around computing solutions.

You will be a qualified and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with at least five years’ experience in designing and developing small to medium sized products within the computer, telecoms or marine industries, or similar. Experience working within an SME is essential as is your natural ability in using computer aided design packages.

Required Experience & Skillset:

• Five+ years’ experience in mechanical designs made from sheet metal fabrication and injection mouldings.
• Experience designing using 3D CAD software.
• Experience of new product design, materials selection and modern manufacturing processes for small to medium size run rates.
• Experience of producing meaningful and correct manufacturing drawings and assemblies.
• Understanding of revision and change control.

IoT Product Manager

In this product manager role, you’ll own, develop and implement the strategy for IoT throughout product lifecycles. You’ll own requirements gathering, create and deliver product roadmaps, and assist the transition from development, through to sales and through life support.

Electronics Engineer

We are on the lookout for an Electronics Engineer to join our dynamic, forward-thinking organisation that specialises in the design and manufacture of specialist computer equipment. You’ll be leading the design and development of bespoke analogue and digital electronic solutions from lithium battery management packs for commercial gaming tablets through to power distribution and monitoring equipment for use by the Royal Navy. As we grow into new industries and applications, the opportunity to learn and apply new skills is always just around the corner. Working from outline specifications, you’ll be responsible for the design, development and testing of new hardware and embedded solutions needed to meet customer and product requirements. You’ll be taking a leading role in multidisciplinary and cross-functional technical projects and providing guidance to other engineers during development project phases. Your work will encompass proving the viability of new concepts from first principles – including circuit modelling and calculations – and working with customers and other engineers to assist with integration, commissioning and problem resolution activities. In addition, as a senior interface with the production team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all data related to the electronic and electrical design and manufacture of a system is available for successful procurement and assembly.
