Paint Shop Cell Leader – Farnborough, UK

We are hiring for a Paint shop Cell Leader, to join our team at Captec Subsystems Engineering (CSE) in Farnborough.

As the Paint Shop Cell Leader, you will work in partnership with the primary cell leaders to ensure workflow through the department and will develop plans to efficiently use materials, labour and equipment. You will also be responsible for the day-to-day operational deliverables through your team, as well as team development through appraisals, performance management and assessment of training requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will be likely to have 5+ years’ experience of paint shop and have extensive knowledge of wet and powder painting and best practices, be a team player and a setter of high standards. You will also have a similar level of experience in an effective supervisory role.

Required Experience & Skillset:
  • Ensuring the lean principles are embedded in the department and providing continuous improvement solutions.
  • Ensuring production efficiencies are communicated throughout the team and that they are met in line with staffing levels available.
  • Ensuring staffing levels are reviewed periodically and action is taken to meet the forward production plan.
  • Communicating clearly and effectively with your team to ensure they are aware of production priorities and the schedule is being adhered to, in conjunction with the factory plan.
  • Ensuring quality standards are communicated throughout the team and are always adhered to.
  • Ensuring all health & safety requirements are communicated and adhered to.
  • Keeping track of shelf life for paints.
  • Team management including performance management, daily task allocation, and appraisals.
  • Experience of how to improve both Wet / powder painting and the environment or additional equipment that might be required.
  • Promoting and maintain good housekeeping and ensuring the environment is always safe and clean in line with 7s.
  • General departmental administration.
  • Maintaining an inventory of raw materials.
  • Purchasing needed inventory and maintaining BOM status.
  • Plan and manage the departmental budget.

Production Team Leader – Fareham, UK

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Team Leader, in the Production Department, at our facility based in Fareham.

What Does the Role Involve?

As a Production Team Leader, using your excellent people skills, you will be required to lead, motivate and supervise an effective team in the achievement of on-time and right first-time deliveries whilst preventing overruns and rework.  You will accomplish this by fostering a collaborative working environment, by ensuring technicians are sufficiently trained, meeting timekeeping requirements, are correctly logged into jobs and by monitoring build times against expected on our ERP.

You will be the first port of call for any Production issues and will be expected to proactively liaise with other departments in support of the resolution, escalating any issues to the Production Planner/ Operations Manager where required.

 

Required Experience & Skillset:
  • Previous experience of working in a supervisory role, with a responsibility for a team, in a manufacturing organisation.
  • Experience of building computers.
  • Can provide demonstrable examples of leading and motivating a team to achieve results.
  • Able to effectively lead a team by displaying excellent verbal communication skills and fostering strong relationship building skills to aid the promotion of positive employee relations.
  • Can drive high standards through team members.
  • Can demonstrate successful delivery of own, KPI’s.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, promoting collaboration with other departments to resolve issues.
  • A positive mindset and a hard-working team player with a can-do attitude who is driven to deliver results accurately the first time.

Quality Engineer – Fareham, UK

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join our Quality, Health, Safety Environmental (QHSE) and Compliance team in Fareham.

Reporting to the QHSE Manager, the ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience working as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing organisation, is experienced in the inspection of electrical, electronic and mechanical parts, assemblies and products against engineering drawings and specifications and can demonstrate excellent communication with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders on quality related issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Production Quality Assurance including the monitoring and improvement of workmanship, analysing rework, identifying root cause and implementing corrective actions.
  • Customer Quality Assurance including customer complaint and non-conformance investigation and corrective action implementation, hosting customer inspection and audit visits, product recall and field upgrade management and customer satisfaction measurement and reporting.
  • Engineering and Product Quality Assurance including involvement with the product design process, including active participation in design reviews, ensuring robust validation and verification activities at appropriate stages in the design process and working with the New Product Introduction team to ensure new products are suitably designed for efficient manufacture.
  • Supplier Quality Assurance including working with the Purchasing team to select, assess and approve suitable suppliers, liaise with suppliers to identify root cause of non-confirming materials and implement corrective actions and monitor, measure and report supplier performance.
  • Business Management System including documenting process maps and associated documents to the Quality department, monitor the effectiveness of the organisation’s BMS, via non-conformance management and internal auditing and liaising with certification bodies when they carry out 3rd party audits of the organisations BMS to ISO9001 and ISO14001.

 

Required Experience & Skillset:
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing organisation.
  • Must be able to attain BPSS Clearance
  • Inspection of electrical, electronic and mechanical parts, assemblies and products against engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Liaising with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders on quality related issues, including complaints, rejects, FATs, FAIRs and change control.
  • Root cause analysis and effective implementation of corrective actions.
  • Skilled use of all standard quality tools, e.g. 8D, 5 whys, fishbone, etc.
  • Process improvement, including value stream mapping.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Use of inspection and measuring equipment, e.g. micrometer and vernier gauge.
  • Data analysis and presentation.

 

Personal Attributes:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to engage and build rapport with all levels of people, including dealing with suppliers and customers.
  • Friendly but assertive approach, and the ability to influence and persuade others is important.
