Business Development Manager, Defense – Cambridge, Canada

As part of our continued growth, we’re looking for a strategic and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our Sales team in Canada. This is a high-impact role focused on expanding our presence within the Defense sector, working with both enterprise and SME customers.

You’ll be responsible for identifying, developing, and closing high-value opportunities, bringing a consultative mindset and a sharp commercial edge to every engagement. While deep technical expertise isn’t required, you’ll need to quickly immerse yourself in our capabilities and services to confidently communicate the value and relevance of our solutions. Your ability to translate complex customer needs into customized technology offerings will be key to your success.

This role demands strong relationship-building skills. You’ll be expected to uncover new opportunities through insight-led conversations and deliver compelling proposals that demonstrate our value proposition.

This is a full-time, field-based position, reporting into our Cambridge, Ontario office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute sales prospecting and customer targeting plans.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of qualified prospects through cold calling, referrals, and networking.
  • Lead key account development plans to grow revenue and deepen customer engagement.
  • Prepare persuasive proposals and quotations in collaboration with technical and commercial teams.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records (HubSpot) and provide regular sales forecasts.
  • Representing Captec at industry events and networking opportunities.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and margin targets.

 

Required Experience & Skillset:
  • 3+ years of experience selling technology solutions to relevant stakeholders in the Defense sector is a must. Additional experience in healthcare, automation, transportation, energy, or communications considered an asset.
  • Experience in initiating and converting cold leads to opportunities.
  • Proven track record of closing high-value contracts with large SME and Enterprise customers.
  • Strong consultative and solution-oriented skills enabling identification of new opportunities.
  • Experience in major project deployments and stakeholder management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Welder x 2 – Farnborough, UK

We are hiring two skilled welders with strong experience working with aluminium and thin-gauge materials to join our team at Captec Subsystems Engineering (CSE) in Farnborough.

Key Responsibilities:

To be successful, you will have solid hands-on experience welding thin-gauge aluminium, as well as working with mild steel and stainless steel. You will be proficient in MIG and TIG welding processes and able to critically inspect your own work to ensure it meets drawing and quality standards. You will also have fabrication experience involving multi-level Bills of Materials (BoMs) and be confident using workshop tools such as grinders and other associated equipment. In addition, you will be able to produce welds in line with customer specifications and read CAD drawings to manufacture parts to the highest standard.

 

Required Experience & Skillset:

Essential experience for the role:

  • Over 4 years’ hands-on welding experience, specialising in thin‑gauge aluminium, with additional expertise working with mild steel and stainless steel.
  • Proficient in MIG and TIG welding processes.
  • 4+ years in a fabrication background, including working with multi-level Bills of Materials (BoMs).
  • Skilled and confident in using tools like grinders, manual / electric tools.
